ASCAP Sings the Praises of Using ExaGrid Over Tape in Collocated Environment

ASCAP, the U.S. performing rights organization representing over 550,000 composers and publishers, needed to replace tape backups as it moved operations to a collocated datacenter. Tape required too much hands-on intervention and wasn’t compatible with a “lights-out” remote environment, while ASCAP also had growing data volumes and long retention requirements (up to seven years).

ASCAP deployed a multi-site ExaGrid system integrated with Veeam, using zone-level deduplication (ratios as high as 40:1), a disk landing zone, adaptive deduplication, and GRID scale-out architecture, with an assigned ExaGrid support engineer monitoring the system. The result: lower cost than competitors, a much smaller storage footprint, shorter backup windows, fast restores and instant VM recoveries, nightly offsite replication for DR, and virtually maintenance-free, reliable backups in the collocated environment.
