A ExaGrid Case Study
Ahearn & Soper, a Toronto-based provider of barcode software and hardware solutions across North America, needed to move off a capacity-constrained tape backup system (Arcserve) and establish offsite replication for disaster recovery. The IT team evaluated options and selected ExaGrid for its disk-based architecture, deduplication, and ability to work with their existing backup application.
They deployed ExaGrid appliances at the primary and DR sites while retaining Arcserve; ExaGrid’s landing zone and adaptive deduplication sped backups and enabled parallel offsite replication. The result: backup efficiency improved “tenfold” (daily incrementals now finish in 1–2 hours), restores that once took hours are now minutes, retention expanded from months to up to two years, and ongoing management was simplified with assigned ExaGrid support and easy scaling as data grew.
