Admiration Foods Implements ExaGrid for Better Backups

Admiration Foods, a family-owned food manufacturer with plants in New Jersey, Alabama and Tennessee, was struggling with retention and very long backup windows using a disk-to-disk-to-tape approach. Backups often took up to ten hours—causing differential jobs to overlap—restores were slow and tape was proving unreliable, so the IT team needed a faster, more manageable solution.

The company implemented an ExaGrid disk-based backup system with post-process deduplication, using Veeam for virtual servers and Symantec Backup Exec for physical servers, with nightly mirroring to a DR site. The change cut the backup window from 10 hours to about 1 hour, enabled at least six weeks of retention, simplified restores and daily management through automated alerts, and provided scalable, knowledgeable support for future growth.
