Case Study: Endesa achieves 150+ approved ideas in 3 months, scaling employee-driven innovation with Exago

A Exago Case Study

Preview of the Endesa Case Study

In the first 3 months, more than 150 approved ideas responded to management challenges

Endesa, Spain’s largest electric utility, needed a systematic way to capture and apply the innovation already present across its ~22,000 employees in six countries to address safety, low‑cost/high‑impact improvements, cost cutting and operational efficiency. In April 2012 Endesa selected Exago’s Innovation Management solution (the Exago platform) to increase employee participation and make the innovation process transparent and scalable.

Exago delivered a simple, crowd‑driven platform plus services to collect, assess and implement ideas, running 47 challenges in 18 months and engaging over 1,700 active participants by the end of 2013. Results included about 2,000 idea submissions by December 2012 (247 approved for possible implementation), more than 150 approved ideas in the first three months, many implemented in safety and environmental areas, measurable efficiency and cost benefits—and the program was scaled by Exago across the ENEL Group in 2014 to 71,000 employees in 40 countries.
