McKesson, the largest U.S. healthcare services company serving more than 50% of American hospitals and a major pharmaceutical distributor, needed to support a diverse user base while meeting strict industry security and regulatory requirements and radically improving operational efficiencies. Exadel was engaged to provide security application solutions, using open-source access and identity management technologies (OpenAM, OpenDJ, OpenIDM, LDAP, SAML, OAuth) to modernize authentication and identity workflows.

Exadel implemented a comprehensive security stack—Corporate Active Directory SSO, an Identity Management UI, and supporting components such as OpenAM, OpenDJ, OpenIDM, WS‑Security, STS, SAML and OAuth—to centralize access, federation and identity management. The solution increased clinician productivity, reduced costs and improved efficiencies so physicians, nurses and caregivers could spend more time on patient care; Exadel met or exceeded McKesson’s goals and delivered high customer satisfaction.
