The Bates County Sheriff’s Office - Customer Case Study

The Bates County Sheriff's Office faced an aging, analog surveillance system and multiple recording platforms that were becoming cumbersome to operate, all while working under tight local-government budget constraints. To improve monitoring of entrances, visitor areas and cell pods, Bates County selected Exacq Technologies’ exacqVision solution—deploying Z-Series IP and A-Series hybrid servers running exacqVision Enterprise VMS—to deliver an enterprise-class, cost‑effective upgrade.

Midwest Digital Systems implemented a mixed analog/IP design that let Bates County reuse existing Bosch analog cameras while adding Arecont and Stardot megapixel IP cameras, all recorded centrally on Exacq Technologies’ exacqVision servers. The upgrade delivered measurable benefits: increased storage and retention through motion‑based recording, RAID‑6 and redundant power for always‑on recording, faster search/export of evidence, improved live monitoring and PTZ zoom capabilities, and significant cost savings by leveraging existing infrastructure.
