Prospect Heights Police Department - Customer Case Study

Prospect Heights Police Department (PHPD), responsible for patrolling about 4.6 square miles with more than 16,000 residents and hundreds of businesses, needed a way to better monitor problem areas and deter rising crime while allowing remote, real-time oversight of neighborhoods distant from the station. To meet that need PHPD deployed Exacq Technologies’ exacqVision VMS (implemented by local integrator Xtivity Solutions with Arecont Vision IP cameras distributed by Anixter) as the core of a community surveillance solution.

Exacq Technologies’ exacqVision was integrated into an all-outdoor wireless network linking the police station, public works, Metra station and residential areas, using nine Arecont cameras (eight 8MP and one 20MP) and a 24/7 command center for live viewing. The exacqVision system gave PHPD’s 31 staff remote access via PC, squad-car computers and mobile apps, enabled fast video search and digital PTZ detail, reduced routine patrol requirements, and produced a noticeable drop in criminal activity — with video from the system used to support several successful criminal investigations.
