National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration - Customer Case Study

The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Southwest Fisheries Science Center needed a high-quality, serverless video surveillance system for its new Ocean Technology Development Tank to monitor experiments without running cables or dedicated servers. To meet these strict requirements, NOAA selected Exacq Technologies’ exacqVision Edge VMS installed on IQinVision IQeye cameras to capture and review activity around the tank.

Exacq Technologies’ solution deployed eight IQeye Alliance‑pro 3 MP cameras with exacqVision Edge preloaded, connected to a PoE switch and recording to on‑camera SD cards—eliminating the need for a dedicated server and reducing costs. The exacqVision client (freely distributable) gives biologists fast search and playback (including exacqReplay up to 15 minutes), easy archival review to validate instrument data, and simple sharing with collaborators; the same Exacq Technologies system has also been used on a research vessel to count fish and map stream banks, improving researchers’ ability to collect and analyze ecosystem data.
