A Exacq Technologies Case Study
George Mason University, a large and fast‑growing campus in Fairfax, Virginia, faced a fragmented video environment across nearly 170 buildings: more than 200 analog cameras and hundreds of IP cameras running on about 14 different legacy DVR systems with no centralized way to view or administer them. After evaluating options, the university and integrator S3 Integration selected Exacq Technologies’ exacqVision solution — hybrid and IP camera servers with exacqVision Professional VMS and the Enterprise Server option — to create a unified, scalable VMS.
S3I installed exacqVision servers (including two A‑Series hybrid, two EL‑Series hybrid and eight A‑Series IP servers, three with RAID‑5) to consolidate 200 analog and 165 IP cameras onto a single platform, with plans to add another 245 IP cameras and scale toward ~1,000 cameras. The Exacq Technologies system enabled centralized monitoring from any networked PC or the web, dramatically sped investigations with fast search tools (cutting hours of review), reduced staffing needs at parking gates, and even aided a medical emergency response — while providing cost‑effective IP licensing and three years of free software updates.
