Berklee College of Music - Customer Case Study

Berklee College of Music, a downtown Boston campus of 30 buildings serving ~4,200 students and 1,000 staff, faced complex physical‑security challenges: aging, dispersed buildings, diverse uses, and a fragmented system of 16 legacy DVRs that could not be centrally monitored. To modernize surveillance and overcome wiring and scalability constraints, Berklee worked with integrator GS Security and selected Exacq Technologies’ exacqVision video management system (VMS) and servers.

Exacq Technologies deployed five A‑Series hybrid/IP servers plus three COTS servers running exacqVision, consolidating analog and IP cameras into a single client (desktop and exacq Mobile) and expanding coverage to about 300 cameras viewable simultaneously on six 46" monitors. The solution—integrated with Lenel access control, RAID‑protected storage, and beam‑triggered exterior cameras—replaced 16 DVRs, lowered costs versus an analog matrix, enabled centralized real‑time and mobile monitoring, and produced measurable impact including capture of a clear fire‑escape suspect image that was shared with Boston authorities.
