A Ex Machina Case Study
Athens International Airport, Greece's busiest airport and a carbon-neutral facility, faced challenges in continuously monitoring air pollution across its site and understanding aircraft noise patterns affecting neighboring communities. Traditional methods provided only snapshots of data, which was insufficient for responding to complaints or regulatory queries. To overcome this, the airport partnered with Ex Machina for a custom environmental monitoring solution.
Ex Machina deployed a network of autonomous, solar-powered IoT sensor nodes equipped for dual air quality and noise monitoring. These nodes used GPRS and LoRaWAN connectivity to stream data in real-time to a cloud analytics platform. This solution provided AIA with continuous, timestamped data, automated alerts, and regulatory reports. The results gave the airport actionable insights for compliance and community relations, allowing them to respond to concerns with specific data while retaining full control over their environmental information through Ex Machina's open, vendor-lock-in-free platform.
