Mastercard, the global payments and technology company, wanted to increase existing customers’ use of credit cards while traveling abroad by easing concerns about unknown exchange rates and educating travelers on the benefits of using its cards worldwide. To help address this challenge, Mastercard partnered with EX.CO to create engaging content that could build awareness and encourage greater card usage.
EX.CO, working with media agency CARAT, developed an interactive travel quiz-style content piece aligned with Mastercard’s campaign, asking readers questions about their travel habits and inviting them to enter a contest for a surprise refund on travel expenses. Distributed across premium publishers in the EX.CO network, the campaign delivered a 22% conversion rate, 1:30+ minutes of active dwell time, and a 27% click-through rate.
