Humboldt Storage & Moving, a 100‑employee Boston moving company with over a century in the business and a United Van Lines affiliate, struggled with obsolete green‑screen, DOS‑based and paper systems that made order entry slow, error‑prone and difficult to train new staff on. The company found its team spending more time "servicing the system" than serving customers, limiting efficiency, visibility into finances, and the ability to grow profitably.
In 2006 Humboldt implemented EWS Group’s MoversSuite alongside Microsoft Dynamics GP, assembling an internal project team to manage the rollout. The Windows‑based, integrated solution cut training from six weeks to days, automated customer and financial workflows, added task reminders and shared notes, and enabled detailed financial reporting and credit management. As a result Humboldt’s customer service capacity improved (handling about 15–20% more moves annually), profit margins became clearer, and revenue per employee rose 17%, helping the company become more efficient and profitable.
