ST-Ericsson, a global wireless platform and semiconductor supplier, needed a more stable and efficient build system for mobile platform software products. Their existing in-house and outsourced solution was buggy, slow, and difficult to maintain, while also needing to support module dependencies, multiple toolchains, and delivery of source code files to customers. Evozon was brought in as the Perl outsourcing partner to help address these challenges.

Evozon rebuilt and optimized the system by parsing module configuration files more efficiently, automatically generating makefiles, and introducing multithreaded and parallel builds. The vendor also unified build and release tooling, integrated delivery functions, and created a new installer for software platform modules. As a result, the build system became reliable, development issues were reduced, and build times dropped by 70–80%, significantly improving ST-Ericsson’s delivery and development workflow.
