How Scottish Borders Council Implemented Risk Assessment Software Across Their Distributed Environment

Scottish Borders Council, a local authority covering 1,500 square miles with over 5,000 employees, struggled with a dispersed workforce, paper-based accident reporting and slow, error-prone processes that left managers without clear visibility of risks and compliance. After trialling Word and Excel, the Council selected Evotix in 2017 and adopted its Assure platform and AssureGO+ mobile app to centralise risk assessments, incident reporting and health‑and‑safety checklists.

Evotix implemented Assure, AssureGO+ and iQ templates to enable real‑time, mobile reporting, scheduled management reports and easy-to-build checklists; this replaced paper and Word workflows, cut reporting turnaround from days to real time, improved visibility of accident locations and causes, sped up fire logbook and monthly checks, and increased staff engagement and compliance awareness across the organisation. Evotix’s solution delivered faster actions, clearer leadership oversight and measurable time savings in reporting and follow-up.
