PBS NewsHour launches a Classroom site in 2021 with Evolve Media

The PBS NewsHour engaged Evolve Media for a redesign of its educational website, PBS NewsHour Classroom. The challenge was to execute a visual refresh that honored the news outlet's heritage and appealed to educators and students, despite the educational property lacking a pre-defined, cohesive brand system or extensive guidelines for the vendor to follow.

Evolve Media implemented a solution focused on a design that leveraged historical assets and created a new navigation structure to highlight key content and calls to action. They developed special technical features using the Gutenberg block system to give PBS editors more control over dynamically placing auxiliary items within articles, thereby reducing manual labor. The work by Evolve Media successfully brought to life a supplemental educational website that presents PBS NewsHour as a long-established voice for student and teacher resources.
