Wyoming Valley West School District Ensures Students Aren’t Late to Class with the Help of Evolv

Wyoming Valley West School District in Kingston, PA (about 4,600 K–12 students) was struggling with slow, intrusive entry screening: queues of up to 40 minutes at the middle and high school, high nuisance-alarm rates from legacy metal detectors, heavy staffing burdens, and students missing breakfast and first-period class. To address these challenges the district partnered with Evolv and evaluated the Evolv Express® single‑lane systems (with Evolv Cortex AI® and Evolv Insights®) as a faster, more accurate alternative.

Evolv deployed four Express systems (two fixed and two ruggedized mobile units), provided on‑site and Evolv Academy training, and supported configuration and analytics integration. As a result, Evolv helped the district shrink its screening footprint (from six metal detectors to four Express lanes), nearly eliminate long entrance lines, cut staffing for screening by 33%, screen 1,000+ people in about 30 minutes at graduation, and reduce nuisance alarms by roughly 50%, enabling students to get breakfast and arrive to class on time while improving overall safety.
