Virtua Health Selects Evolv for Emergency Department Security Screening Following Comprehensive Evaluation

Virtua Health, a nonprofit healthcare system in southern New Jersey with 14,000+ staff and seven hospital campuses, faced rising workplace violence and staff concerns—its annual Culture Survey flagged weapons screening as a top priority. To provide less invasive, high‑throughput screening that fits into facility workflows, Virtua evaluated and selected Evolv, deploying Evolv Express systems and using Evolv Insights for analytics and operational visibility.

Evolv configured and deployed 17 Evolv Express units (including one ruggedized system), trained Virtua staff, and helped update ConOps for weapons detection; Evolv Insights provides traffic and threat analytics. The deployment detected six handguns on day one, now screens an average of 7,500 people daily across seven EDs (up to 325,000 monthly at 17 entrances), identifies more than 500 threats per month (over 7,500 total to date), and has driven positive staff and patient feedback and stronger local law‑enforcement partnerships.
