Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC), a 216‑bed hospital in Portsmouth, Ohio, was facing rising concerns about workplace violence and relied on limited, manual screening (random hand‑held metal detectors in the ED and no screening at the main entrance or after‑hours).
