Rural Nebraska Winnebago Public Schools Improves School Security Without Negatively Impacting Student Experience

Winnebago Public Schools, a rural K‑12 district in Winnebago, Nebraska with about 600 students and two public entrances, needed to boost entry screening amid rising concerns about school violence without disrupting student experience or creating long security lines. The district selected Evolv and its Evolv Express screening solution (backed by Evolv Cortex AI and Evolv Insights) to provide a fast, non-intrusive alternative to traditional metal detectors while preserving a positive school culture.

Evolv deployed two single‑lane Evolv Express systems, provided on‑site training and ongoing support, and integrated the solution with the school’s cameras and communications systems. In the first month the school screened over 17,000 students, staff, parents and visitors, validated weapon detection in testing, reduced queueing and soft‑target exposure, enabled secondary checks that uncovered vapes and other contraband, and delivered detailed analytics for monthly board reporting—demonstrating that Evolv improved security measurably without negatively impacting student experience.
