Southern Illinois University (SIU) faced significant challenges with its outdated paper billing system, which was expensive, inefficient, and labor-intensive for its bursar’s office. Processing and mailing an average of 26,000 tuition bills led to high costs and logistical problems with returned mail and requests for additional copies. To support its goal of a paperless campus and cut costs, SIU turned to vendor Evisions for a solution using their FormFusion product.

Evisions implemented its FormFusion document enhancement and distribution solution to create a fully electronic billing process for SIU. This solution automated the creation of PDF bills, uploaded them to the student portal, and sent email notifications. The results were substantial, saving the university over $88,000 annually in printing and postage costs alone, while drastically reducing staff workload and returned mail rates. Both students and staff reported high satisfaction with the new, efficient system provided by Evisions.
