Scottish Water transforms wastewater network management into an intelligent asset base able to predict and prevent issues

Scottish Water, the public utility providing water and wastewater services across Scotland, faced challenges in managing its extensive wastewater network due to climate change impacts, which led to environmental pollution incidents and sewer blockages. Partnering with Eviden, Scottish Water embarked on the Wastewater Intelligent Network (WWIN) project to shift from a reactive to a proactive and predictive operational model.

Eviden implemented an end-to-end solution involving the deployment of IoT level and flow sensors, a secure data platform, and analytics dashboards. This provided real-time insights and early warnings for network abnormalities. The results included a significant reduction in environmental pollution events and customer impacts from incidents like sewer flooding, as well as improved compliance with environmental regulations.
