Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH, the company operating Cologne Bonn Airport, was facing unpredictable costs and internal IT effort from managing a fleet of around 500 mobile devices. These challenges included unforeseen repairs, device replacements, and loss management. Seeking a better procurement method, the airport turned to vendor Everphone for its Device as a Service solution.
Everphone implemented its solution, which included a Buy and Rent Back (BARB) program for existing devices. This provided complete cost transparency, outtasked device handling and incident management to Everphone, and enabled a gentle, cost-effective modernization of the device fleet. The results included significantly reduced and more predictable costs for the airport, operational relief for the internal IT team, and increased employee satisfaction through a CYOD (Choose Your Own Device) model offering upgrades to newer smartphones like iPhones.
