XWord Info - Customer Case Study

XWord Info, founded by crossword enthusiast Jim Horne, is a comprehensive online archive of New York Times crossword puzzles (dating back to 1959) that collects and analyzes puzzle data in many ways. The site’s size and complex SQL queries made hosting difficult: it needed a scalable solution that could handle heavy indexing and traffic spikes without the high cost of Azure or dedicated servers.

XWord Info moved to Everleap’s Multi-Site plan with two load‑balanced web servers and sufficiently large SQL databases, with the option to scale further via Power Packs or standalone servers. The switch delivered noticeably better reliability and faster response times, positive feedback from users, and responsive customer service, while keeping costs under control and supporting the latest Microsoft stack.
