A Evergen Case Study
An Australian distribution network service provider (DNSP) needed visibility into the growing number of privately owned household batteries on its grid to recruit them into a virtual power plant (VPP). The challenge was to locate this distributed energy storage, understand its specifications and behavior, and ultimately design a program to aggregate it as a cost-effective grid management resource. To address this, they worked with Evergen and utilized the Evergen DERMS platform.
Using Evergen's platform, the DNSP gained the visibility required to identify and target areas of interest for its VPP program. The solution provided two-way communication, an automated billing and payments engine, and a single portal to manage the distributed energy resources. As a result, the DNSP successfully recruited 351 participants into its VPP, enabling them to export energy back to the grid and earn money from their batteries.
