Case Study: City of St. Louis achieves tornado resilience and 224,000-person emergency alert reach with Everbridge

A Everbridge Case Study

St. Louis leading by example for tornado resilience

The City of St. Louis Emergency Management Agency needed to modernize its tornado-alert capabilities after an aging siren system and low opt-in rates left most residents unreachable. The agency sought a solution that could quickly reach all segments of the population, provide redundant channels, and address public concerns about data use.

By deploying Everbridge, St. Louis now sends targeted text, email, and landline alerts and expanded its reach from about 17,000 opt-ins to roughly 224,000 contacts for life‑threatening events. The platform also supports internal and regional coordination, reduces the risk of spam or rogue alerts through broad adoption, and has strengthened the city’s overall preparedness, response, and recovery.
