South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust - Customer Case Study

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides emergency and urgent care across a fifth of England, with over 4,000 staff covering 96 ambulance stations, clinical control rooms, air ambulance bases and hazardous response teams. Facing strict NHS performance targets, the Trust had struggled with previous crisis-communication tools and needed a solution to improve staff notification, incident awareness and emergency response times for major incidents.

The Trust implemented Everbridge’s mass-notification platform to send targeted, multi-channel alerts (SMS, email, text-to-speech, push) to stakeholders. The result: staff acknowledgements rose from about 2% to 100%, notification responses increased by 138%, and response times dropped from more than 60 minutes to under four minutes—enabling faster, more efficient resource deployment, better incident visibility and streamlined communications that support continued high standards of patient care.
