A Everbridge Case Study
Everbridge’s CareConverge, in partnership with Verizon, worked with Mayo Clinic to address delays in stroke care caused by complex workflows, poor communications infrastructure and a lack of compliant mobile tools. The solution was piloted from June–August 2015 at a Level I stroke center to test time savings, in-transit patient evaluation and mobile telemedicine.
CareConverge on iPads over the Verizon network let neurologists video-chat with patients in ambulances, pre‑prep emergency teams and streamline handoffs. Results included faster symptom identification, a 7.45‑minute reduction in door‑to‑needle time, a 16‑minute faster evaluation versus traditional telemedicine robots, no dropped calls and high clinician/EMT satisfaction; estimated clinical and financial benefits included ~13.4 million neurons preserved on average, about $4,500 saved per inpatient stay, and a low program cost (<$500/provider/year).
