A Everbridge Case Study
Ventura County, a large and diverse California county of over 850,000 residents with extensive coastline, forest and agricultural areas, faces frequent natural and human-made hazards—from brush fires to hazardous materials incidents. Public safety needed a reliable way to quickly and accurately disseminate emergency information to residents, cities, county departments and partner organizations across a broad, varied geography.
By implementing Everbridge and a branded opt-in portal (VC Alert), Ventura County centralized resident contact data, used geo-coded targeting and more than 30 contact methods, and deployed pre-built notification templates and role-based access for departments. The system improved coordination and reach, reduced average notification time from about 15–20 minutes to roughly five minutes, and increased the county’s ability to deliver timely, accurate protective guidance to the public.
