How Nassau County Used Everbridge to Improve Storm and Evacuation Alerts

Nassau County, a coastal Florida county of about 74,000 residents, needed a fast, reliable way for its Emergency Management Department to reach staff and citizens about storms, evacuations and a wide range of day‑to‑day hazards—from road closures to wildfires. Its barrier‑island geography and varied risk profile made timely, targeted communication essential.

The county implemented Everbridge’s Unified Critical Communication Suite, using an opt‑in web portal that lets residents manage contact methods, select alert types, set quiet hours and receive geographically targeted messages. The system proved user‑friendly and faster than traditional channels, enabling rapid, area‑specific notifications, saving time and resources, and improving public safety during both routine incidents and large‑scale emergencies.
