Everbridge Nixle supported public safety agencies during the 2017 Great American Eclipse, which brought hundreds of thousands of visitors and caused some small communities to double or triple in population overnight. Officials needed a fast, reliable way to reach both residents and visitors with eclipse safety tips, traffic incident alerts, and other event-related information.

Many jurisdictions used Nixle keyword opt-ins—residents and visitors simply texted a keyword to 888‑777—to receive eclipse-specific notifications directly to their phones. This enabled places such as Albany, OR; Lincoln County, OR; Larimer and Jefferson Counties, CO; and Cherokee County, NC to quickly share safety, traffic, and update messages during the event and stop notifications afterward, helping manage visitor impact and keep the public informed.
