Event Management in Philadelphia for the 2018 Super Bowl Championship Parade

The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Emergency Management faced an unprecedented public-safety challenge when the 2018 Super Bowl championship parade drew an expected crowd of more than two million along a nearly five-mile route. With safety, crowd management, and timely public information as top priorities, officials needed a reliable way to reach large numbers of attendees quickly.

PhilaOEM used Everbridge’s Community Engagement platform to create and promote a mobile keyword (TEXT READYEAGLES to 888-777) for parade alerts. Within four days more than 97,000 people subscribed, and the city sent over two million notifications with street-closure, transit, weather, reunification, and operational updates — providing a unified, rapid channel to keep attendees informed and safe.
