Dynalife Medical Labs is a diagnostic laboratory based in Edmonton that performs over 14 million tests a year for more than 2,000 physicians and one million patients. In 2016, just after installing Everbridge, the company was tested by the out-of-control Fort McMurray wildfires—a sudden, large-scale evacuation that affected many of Dynalife’s staff, about half of whom living in the area lost their homes.

With limited time and experience on the new tool, Dynalife’s enterprise risk team used Everbridge to send tailored messages to specific employee groups, providing safety instructions and tracking whereabouts. The system helped ensure the safe evacuation of all staff and their families, arranged temporary housing (including a company hospitality suite), and even accommodated pets, allowing the company to account for employees and maintain support during the crisis.
