A Everbridge Case Study
City of Glendale, a 191,000‑resident city in Southern California, faced a fast‑moving brush fire on August 4, 2009 that threatened hillside homes, snarled freeway traffic and prompted evacuations. The city needed to notify people in a confined canyon area with a single ingress/egress quickly and reliably so first responders could focus on controlling the blaze.
Using Everbridge, city staff were able to launch targeted evacuation alerts to residents in the affected canyon immediately and later send an all‑clear, reducing call volume and easing the emergency team’s workload. Everbridge also streamlined non‑emergency communications—distributing a new police manual to 450 employees with click‑to‑confirm receipts and an audit trail, enabling rebroadcasts to non‑responders and correction of contact errors—resulting in faster outreach, improved recordkeeping, and praise from city leadership.
