Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness - Customer Case Study

Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, which serves nearly 200,000 residents in southwest Louisiana, needed an emergency alert system that could capture location data and individual attributes for at‑risk citizens—such as limited mobility, oxygen dependence, or hearing/vision impairments—and deliver tailored notifications to support evacuation and rescue during severe weather and other crises.

The Parish deployed Everbridge and created a SNAP (Special Needs Assistance Program) to upload and color‑code ten special‑needs categories, import the State At‑Risk Registry and home health/hospice data, and map locations for retrieval. The result is automated, customized alerts and faster, safer coordination during events like Hurricane Harvey, replacing slow phone-and-spreadsheet processes and expanding coverage to all area home health and hospice clients.
