Case Study: Brevard County expands emergency alert reach and speeds delivery with Everbridge

Preview of the Brevard County Case Study

Brevard County reaches more people with targeted emergency alerts

Brevard County Emergency Management confronted a shrinking reach for critical warnings as Hurricane Dorian approached: residents were tuning out traditional media and many had shifted from landlines to mobile and VoIP, reducing the effectiveness of mass voice calls. With the need to rapidly notify both residents and visitors across changing conditions, officials required faster, more comprehensive contact data and targeted alerting.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management added Everbridge’s Resident Connection to the statewide AlertFlorida system, a cloud-based rollout completed in two days. The new data nearly tripled contact records, enabled targeted voice and text alerts (including mobile numbers), improved outreach to people with special needs, and delivered monthly updates—significantly increasing the county’s ability to reach and direct the public during emergencies.
