A Eurostep Case Study
Scania, a manufacturer known for its buses and trucks, faced significant challenges in its partnership with Higer Bus Company. The manual process for exchanging the complex product structure data for bus bodies was causing quality issues, leading to an incomplete spare part inventory and catalogue for aftermarket service. This error-prone method, dependent on a few key people, also lacked the scalability needed for their planned production increases. Vendor Eurostep was engaged to address this problem.
Eurostep built the External Partner Product Specification (EPPS) platform upon its ShareAspace PLM Collaboration software to manage product information from external partners. A specific platform for the Higer partnership, called PRIO, was then created on top of EPPS to act as a single source for all product data. The solution standardized data transfers, centralized information for easier problem-solving, and saved time by reducing errors and improving data quality, which ultimately supported Scania's global aftermarket service responsibilities.
