SMC, an electrical distributor, struggled with manual, paper-based inventory counts that triggered frequent “fire drill” emergency orders, inconsistent re-ordering, and no reporting or analytics — problems made worse by COVID-19 limiting in-person visits. To solve this, SMC selected eTurns and its TrackStock mobile app to automate Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and digitize replenishment into their e-commerce punchout and ERP systems.
eTurns implemented the TrackStock app across customers and staff, enabling barcode scanning, mobile ordering, real-time visibility, and integration with SMC’s punchout/ERP. The result: replenishment workflows now take about 15 minutes instead of an hour, sales rep time and procurement costs were reduced by roughly 75%, manual errors were eliminated, and SMC gained actionable reporting and remote-counting capability via eTurns.
