A ETQ Case Study
Virginia Blood Services (VBS) is a nonprofit that supplies blood to 21 hospitals across Virginia and manages one of the state’s largest volunteer efforts. As the organization grew, it needed an automated Quality Management System to replace manual daily QC logs for its Micros 60 hematology analyzers and to better manage SOPs, training records and other documents — processes that were paper‑intensive, slow (monthly reviews could delay discrepancy detection up to 30 days) and error‑prone.
VBS selected ETQ Reliance and used its out‑of‑the‑box modules plus a configured QC application with automated pass/fail rules, corrective‑action routing and workflowed Document Control. The result: QC review time dropped from 45 days to one day, saving about 648 hours (~$13,000 in soft savings), enabling same‑day discrepancy detection, centralizing records, reducing paper and waste, and requiring minimal end‑user training; VBS is now converting additional manual processes into the system.
