Nutrien Builds the Foundation of its Culture of Safety with ETQ Reliance

Nutrien, formed in 2018 from the merger of Agrium and PotashCorp, is the world’s largest crop nutrient producer and retailer with about 22,000 employees, more than 1,500 farm retail centers and operations in 14 countries. The new global organization needed to replace paper-based safety, health and environment (SH&E) processes to meet complex multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements, improve the timeliness and visibility of SH&E data, and get a diverse, change-weary workforce to adopt an automated system.

Nutrien selected ETQ Reliance as its global SH&E platform—building on PotashCorp’s prior use—and rolled it out across its production, distribution and retail operations by the end of 2019. Centralized, timely data now drives SH&E reporting and trend analysis, enabling proactive identification of hazards, automation of incident documentation and stronger serious-injury-and-fatality (SIF) prevention. The user-friendly system improved consistency, accuracy and efficiency of SH&E activities, increased employee engagement with safety processes, and set the foundation for mobile data collection and expanded life‑critical assessments.
