Illumina Fortifies Supplier Relationships with ETQ Reliance

Illumina, a leader in genome sequencing machines and consumables, was hampered by inflexible, unscalable manual quality-control processes. Creating quality reviews required one employee to spend 20+ hours a week contacting suppliers and updating spreadsheets, and the growing supplier base left the quality team unable to track consistency or react quickly to quality dips.

Illumina implemented ETQ Reliance, integrating suppliers into the SMC module so they can submit change notifications, linking the system to its ERP via a simple API, and building centralized supplier profiles. The platform replaced Excel-and-email workflows with real-time monitoring, a single audit trail, configurable workflows for SCARs, audits and investigations, and supplier scorecards/KSPMs—improving collaboration, speeding issue resolution, and enabling data-driven supplier decisions.
