The Scoular Company, a global agribusiness based in Omaha, Nebraska, needed a reliable way to modernize data integration from its IBM i (AS400) system as it expanded cloud analytics on Microsoft Azure. Its key challenge was replicating high-volume AS400 transactional data in near real time while also capturing journal metadata, supporting multiple Azure destinations, and handling maintenance windows without data loss. Etlworks provided the CDC platform used to address these requirements.
Using Etlworks, Scoular implemented a high-performance real-time change data capture solution that streams both data and journal metadata from AS400 to Azure SQL Server, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric Warehouse. Etlworks also automated pipeline stop/start behavior around scheduled maintenance windows, helping ensure uninterrupted operations and consistent data delivery. The result was a scalable, reliable integration architecture built for high transaction volumes, with future expansion planned to Azure Service Bus.
