Solvay Pharmaceuticals ran an ambitious WAIST observational study across Italy that required simple, reliable clinical data capture in everyday GP practices—200 general practitioners recruiting more than 1,200 patients—while keeping data integrated with standard eCRF workflows. To meet this challenge, Solvay engaged Ethical GmbH to deploy a Digital Pen & Paper–based eCRF solution (INKDATA/Anoto Digital Pen & Paper technology) so clinicians could collect visit data in their normal routines and transmit it directly to the study platform.

Ethical GmbH implemented an integrated E‑CRF and INKDATA gateway, supplying digital pens and paper CRFs plus web-based services for project/tracking management, query handling, real-time reporting and data export for biometric/statistical analysis. The solution enabled 200 GPs to capture data for >1,200 patients, provided real-time monitoring during the MIRACLES and WAIST roadshows (thousands of visits collected using only a few pens), and streamlined data management and reporting for the study.
