Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO) in Sur, Oman faced repeated unplanned outages caused by disturbances in the supplying utility, along with limited visibility and control over its grid interconnection, outdated SCADA, missing system data, and frequent load-shedding and synchronization issues. ETAP was brought in to perform power system studies and help address these operational challenges with its ETAP Real-Time Power Management System.

ETAP implemented an integrated, model-based power management solution that included electrical network modeling, system studies, BCU replacements, data integration, an improved HMI, intelligent load shedding, and grid synchronization tools. As a result, OMIFCO cut process downtime from one hour to 15 minutes, increased operating efficiency by 75%, saved more than $41,000 per month on synchronization procedures, and achieved a second-year ROI of 105.6%.
