Power Projects India enables 25% renewable integration with ETAP

Power Projects India, a power system consulting firm, faced the challenge of integrating wind turbines and a battery energy storage system (BESS) into an existing FPSO vessel's power system to reduce carbon emissions. This integration introduced complexities related to power quality, system stability, and protection coordination. To address this, they utilized ETAP software, specifically the ETAP Power Simulator, to conduct comprehensive technical feasibility studies.

Using ETAP's Digital Twin platform, the team performed analyses including load flow, short circuit, and transient stability to validate the new system's design. The solution implemented by ETAP successfully identified an optimized BESS capacity and a system that met the goal of 25% renewable integration with less than 5% energy wasted. This ensured enhanced reliability, spinning reserve support, and a path to significantly reduce the FPSO's operational carbon footprint.
