Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation boosts maintenance efficiency with ETAP Digital Twin and OTS

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) faced challenges in reducing human error during complex switching operations and in training inexperienced operators on both routine and emergency procedures for its urban metro system. To address this, MMRC deployed ETAP's Operator Training Simulator (OTS) to provide a safe and realistic platform for validation and training.

ETAP implemented a solution using its OTS, which creates a Digital Twin of the electrical network that mirrors the real control room's SCADA/HMI. This allowed operators to safely practice and validate switching sequences under all conditions. The results for MMRC included accelerated operator competency development, reduced operational costs by replacing hardware testing, improved maintenance efficiency, and an overall reduction in human error for more reliable metro operations.
