The customer, MR Power Systems, is a Poland-based electrical engineering firm specializing in power systems analysis across the EMEA region. Their challenge was navigating the complex and differing European and North American arc-flash safety standards, which use varied calculation methods and PPE requirements, to provide accurate safety analyses for their clients. To address this, they turned to the vendor ETAP and utilized its Power Simulator with Arc Flash analysis.

ETAP provided a unified solution by allowing engineers to run both IEEE 1584 and DGUV 203-077 methodologies natively within the same software model. This enabled direct comparison of the standards, revealing critical differences in predicted arc energy and helping to justify system upgrades. The results provided MR Power Systems with a more precise understanding of operational risks and PPE implications, allowing them to deliver clearer, more confident safety recommendations to their customers.
