A ETAP Case Study
Energynautics GmbH, a German consulting firm specializing in renewable energy integration, faced the challenge of evaluating how much renewable energy an islanded power system with a 250 MW peak load could integrate by 2028 while maintaining stability. They needed to model the entire electrical system, convert sizing data from HOMER, integrate vendor-provided dynamic models for inverters, and assess system stability under various scenarios.
Using ETAP's software, including its User-Defined Dynamic Models (UDM), Energynautics built a high-fidelity digital twin of the grid. ETAP enabled them to automate data integration, accurately model converter dynamics, and run extensive scenario analyses. The solution allowed the team to successfully validate that the system could handle renewable penetration levels from 40% up to fully renewable scenarios by 2028, ensuring stable frequency dynamics and reliable fault responses.
