Case Study: Electro Integra expands a Peruvian copper mine's electrical system with ETAP

A ETAP Case Study

Preview of the Electro Integra Case Study

Electro Integra saves hundreds of engineering man-hours with ETAP for a 1,000-node copper mine expansion

Electro Integra, a provider of consulting and engineering services to the mining sector, faced the challenge of expanding a southern Peruvian copper mine's power capacity from 8 MW to 20 MW. The project required maintaining continuous operation while solving issues like excessive voltage drops, a low power factor, and validating equipment against future short-circuit levels. They turned to vendor ETAP and its integrated software solutions to perform the necessary electrical studies.

Using ETAP, Electro Integra built a validated digital twin of the entire electrical network and conducted comprehensive analyses including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, and protection coordination. The solution from ETAP provided confidence in the system expansion, ensured large motors would start reliably, and delivered a fully coordinated protection scheme. The vendor's software saved hundreds of engineering man-hours and created a reusable digital twin for the mine's future use.
