Case Study: ADNOC enhances operator training and power system efficiency with ETAP

ADNOC trains on a 315 MW power hub with ETAP digital twin

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) needed to safely and effectively train operators for its complex, islanded power facility on DAS Island. The challenge was to provide a high-fidelity simulation environment where new and existing operators could experience the realistic consequences of their actions on the live system without risk, thereby improving their competency in handling day-to-day and emergency operational scenarios. To address this, ADNOC partnered with vendor ETAP to implement an Operator Training Simulator (eOTS).

ETAP delivered a realistic simulated training environment powered by a unified Electrical Digital Twin, which replicated ADNOC's actual power management system and provided dynamic, realistic system responses to operator actions. This solution from ETAP elevated operator competency and confidence within a safe platform, leading to safer operations, an enhanced understanding of rapid response importance, and proactive training for future system upgrades that reduces potential disruptions.
